AUSTRALIAN MECHANICAL ORGAN SOCIETY INC.

ABOUT US

Welcome to the website of the Australian Mechanical Organ Society (AMOS). Our musically minded members come from all over Australia, and also from New Zealand, the USA and the UK. Most of our members own mechanical organs of various sizes - from the smallest busker organs to larger portables and mighty stationary instruments. Some organs are historic, while others are of recent construction, having been built either by one of our enthusiastic members, or by one of the few remaining mechanical organ businesses in the world.

Ownership of an organ is not required to be a member, anyone who is interested in mechanical musical instruments is encouraged to join. The Society has an annual rally, usually over a weekend in October, at a different location each year. Usually this consists of playing for the Public, an Annual Dinner, a barbeque, and an AGM at which the Committee for the following 12 months is elected. A key feature of our rallies is the chance to socialise with other members. Other events are organised from time to time.

PUBLICATIONS

The AMOS quarterly newsletter 'Wind Chest' is published in March, June, September and December and is distributed free to members. It offers articles, technical information and members' news as well as advertisements of interests to all collectors of mechanical music.

We are delighted to welcome new readers who have recently joined AMOS and we are very pleased that the Wind Chest has been read by so many people in many countries. Our recent editions of the publication is not available online, however you can see some older copies by clicking on the links below:
